Deb K’s Decoupaged Dominoes

Deb K. is making up some dominoes for necklaces and such. She used material and mod podge them with several coats.

After she mod podge them she put several coats of a sealer on them. She drilled the hole with a small drill bit and said it was easy to do.

One of them she used wire and glue on with E6000 glue.

Deb posted this tree on the forum. It’s a small tree that she decided to decorate with tags and ornaments sent to her from the members in the swaps. She has a grape vine star as her topper. Notice the beautiful birdhouse she made beside her tree. How neat is that.

Christmas Swags

As everyone knows I like garage sales, thrift stores and just plain old junking. Well last week I found this red and white checkered bed sheet( for $1.59), a green piece of material(1.50 cents), and red napkins (.50). With a material I also had on hand I made my swags, tie backs and two pillows.

The reason I decided to make some myself is I was checking on them at a store and they wanted around $15.00 for one little swag and I needed at least 5 or 6. So I came out ahead. LOL. Just time and a little frustation because I had to cut all the little red stars and sew them on.

Well this is what I came up with. I will leave them up till after Valentine’s day, then maybe I will come up with something different.

Can you believe that Christmas is that close. I said to my husband last night that I had better get my you know what busy and get my tree up.

Well went in and picked up my Mom from nursing home and my neice, Melissa, to take her into town. I told her that I had to get my big boxes out of the shed and get some of my decorating done. So guess what she volunteered to help me, so boy did we get busy after we got back from town. First we got the big boxes out of the shed and opened them up and she was amazed at all the stuff I have. But everyone knows I love to go thrifting and garage sales so I have collected alot of stuff. LOL. After Xmas some of it will be going because I have way to much and I would like to stay with my old fashioned primitive look. So this is my tree up and done.

I decorated my stand and my primitive chairs and this is what they look like.

This is a close up of the little tree on the stand.

Decorated three of my shelves on the bookcase here’s pictures of the shelves and then one with all together.

I added garland on the rail beside the door and also on the rails behind the love seat.

This is another thrifty find and I added it to the wall beside the bookcase. Melissa had a very hard time with the garland over the Santa. LOL

I bought the little primitive tree today at Dollar Store and added some of Mom’s and mine ornaments that everyone’s made for us. The paper mache reindeer from finds from the thrift store today. There’s also a close up of the tree.

I also made up a wreath with some of the neat ornaments that the members have sent to me.

Well that’s Melissa and my big day today. Thanks Melissa for all the help you gave me. Here’s a picture of the whole froyer done for Christmas.

Donna’s Pergola

Donna made this pergola to go over her fish pond to give them shade. She added the recycled light to give it light at night.

She made the pergola from some pieces of wood for the sides and top for the frame and added three shutters. One shutter she used for the top and one for each side of the pergola. What a neat idea to use up old shutters and to give shade to an area that needs it. She loves to recycle. Notice the beauty that the light gives the pergola.

Crystal Birdbath

Deb made this crystal birdbath out of a clear glass lamp bottom. She uses GE II for gluing pieces like this for outdoors. This is the lamp from yardsale and the bowl is an old light fixture that had the hole in it already! She bought it for $2.00 and made this gorgeous birdbath. This will look great in one of her garden beds. So don’t pass them old lamps when you see them at garage sales because they make beautiful garden art.

Finds from Wednesday

Mom and me went thrifting today and I found the neatest glass top table for $3.50 and had to have it.

Missy, my neice spray painted it with a copper like color and I added it to my porch. I put my little girl on the top of it and placed it next to my chair. I thought it added a little elegance to that side of the porch. Boy I will be glad to get my porch repainted but sure not in the mood to do that. Maybe this fall we will see. LOL Well here’s my little table and it’s made of metal a big plus for outdoors.

I also got two clay flower pots and made tipsy pots out of them. I added plants I already had, you can tell they still are a little wilted.

I paid $1.00 a piece for the pots and they were already painted with the flower.

I’m not sure how to make tipsy pots but this is my version.

Mosaic Bowling Ball

Deb made this mosaic bowling ball in the red, white, and blue for July. She used recycled ball and some of the marbles that she used as the mosaic pieces. On this project she did not use the grout because she said the marbles lose some of there shininess. She uses GEII glue to glue on the half marbles. Then she placed outdoors with her other patriot piece. Deb also picked up the metal frame for her ball for free. She just straightened it out and painted.

My Porch Curtains

I found 4 sheer greenish-yellow curtains to put on my porch from a thrift store in town. I got all 4 for $2.00 and they were new to boot. Well I finally got them up. I did have to purchase two new shower curtain rods but figured I could use those in the future. I had some scrap green material to use as the tie backs and to bring the two on the sides up. I also added the thrift store table cloth to the round table bought for $1.00 and added the other table cloth to the metal stool I got for $2.00. I’m using the metal stool for a plant stand. Here’s the pictures of my redone porch. I will paint the floor later this summer perhaps. I also put my wooden planter out there that I got for $3.00.

Also I found a table lamp that I took about and my daughter told me it would make a great fountain. So here’s what I did with it. Right behind the fountain is the metal stool with the table cloth on it.

Recycled Bikes

Deb and her husband have been very busy recycling their bike finds. Her husband loves John Deere so painted his in the green and yellow colors. Deb wanted to use hers as a piece of art in her garden so she painted hers yellow. So if you see something neat at one of those sales don’t pass them up turn them into pieces of art for your gardens.
